About Us

Our story is passed from table to table.

  • The Land

In 1892, Domenico Grossi arrived at Ellis Island, at the age of 17 years old, and traveled West to San Francisco.  Working as a dairy hand in Marin County, he met and married Teresa Buzzini. Together they built a family and a successful dairy business in West Marin County. Many of the family ranches are still operated by their descendents.

In 2008, their grandson, Ralph Grossi, planted a small pinot noir vineyard on the homestead under partnership with his wife, Judy, and three daughters. With careful analysis of the terroir and consideration of the microclimate, two Dijon clones were selected, 777 and 115. The location has proved ideal for pinot noir and is complemented with cool nights, summer fog rolling in from the ocean and warm, sunny days.

For more than a decade, the grapes have been used in fine wines sold by other wineries. However, the family always retained grapes to make wine for their private enjoyment and is now available for others to enjoy.

  • The Wine

hOurs was born from a Grossi family tradition: gathering around the table to enjoy a home cooked meal, raising a glass, and welcoming friends to our table.

The vineyard is an extension of the family and our core values. It is a labor of love, especially for Ralph. His careful cultivation of the pinot noir grape is no small feat. The pinot noir grape is delicate and complex. From the same grapes, we bring you a crisp rose, a medium bodied pinot noir and a full bodied pinot noir reserve. And of course, Garry Brooks, the wine maker, is to be credited for his subtle taming of the grapes.

Enjoy the rose at an afternoon lunch or at a pool party; drink the golden hour at barbecues or casual dinner parties and savor the midnight reserve over a decadent meal or a special occasion

A bottle carried to a meal. A story shared across generations. Traditions grow stronger with every gathering.

This is wine for the time we spend together.
