How To Cook Fresh Kielbasa In Few Easy Steps
If you are an authentic meat lover, you certainly love Kielbasas. Its rich and smoky flavor surely satisfies the appetite, and it can also be cooked in a variety ways to fit your cravings. But to those who are newly acquainted with it, Kielbasa can be a confusing food subject.
Kielbasa is just a type of sausage that was first created in Poland; the name literally stands for ‘sausage’ in Polish. The confusing matter here is that there are many kinds of Kielbasa; and if you are not familiar with them, you have to provide some information especially if you are buying from a Polish store. Some types of Kielbasa include Swiss, Provolone, American, Gorgonzola, Muenster, Goda, and several others.
Even with the differences, the distinct characteristics of Kielbasa are that it has a salient garlic flavor along with other spices like cloves, pimientos, or marjoram. Unlike sausages that can be made from chicken, lamb, veal, turkey, Kielbasas are mostly made of pork mixed with little amounts of beef.
Now that you got acquainted with the basics of Kielbasa, let’s now learn how to cook fresh kielbasa in few easy steps.
What You Will Need Before Cooking
As I said above, there are various ways of cooking the Kielbasa. I will share to you how to Grill, Roast, and Sautee them. But before that, you must know what Kielbasa to buy and how to prepare it for cooking.
There are lots of Kielbasa that are available in the market and it can be pretty confusing on which to buy. The only essential thing to remember here is that authentic and traditional Kielbasa are made of pork and beef only, and you should avoid Kielbasas that are commercially made of different meats like chicken or turkey.
There are times that we cannot immediately cook what we purchase so it is important to keep our Kielbasa refrigerated for it not to spoil. You should also not cut the coatings of the Kielbasa if you are not cooking it now, you have to make sure that the package is airtight before consuming it.
Others cook their Kielbasa through boiling, which makes the Kielbasa very tender and soft. But, however, I don’t recommend this method because the Kielbasa would lose some of its flavors and who would want that to happen, so I wouldn’t include it on the list.
